In the United States, heart disease is the number one cause of death.  Deaths from a stroke follows closely behind as the number three cause of death in the United States.  The American Heart Association raises public awareness of heart disease and stroke and strives to educate people on how to achieve a heart-healty lifestyle.

Cystic Fibrosis affects about 30,000 children and adults in the United States. It is an inherited chronic disease which effects the lungs and digestive system.  About 1,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.  Through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's work in searching for a cure, people with CF are living healthier, longer lives than ever before. 

 
Opportunity Village provides vocational training, social recreational services, and employment to individuals with intellectual disabilities.  The lives of these individuals are more rewarding through programs offered at Opportunity Village and hundreds of people with disabilities are being placed in jobs throughout the community.

 
Since 1990, The Shade Tree has provided women and children a safe shelter from domestic violence, street violence and homelessness.  The largest shelter of its kind in the state, The Shade Tree offers programs geared toward helping these women rebuild their lives and develop skills to become self-reliant.   100% of their services are provided free of charge.
